When you see people be great, and achieve a lot of success, at some point they said, “why note me”, so if you can’t believe that you’re going to be successful, you can’t expect anybody else to believe that” – “Everything in life is connected, every little thing is connected, so I think that when things happen in your life, if you look at them as coincidences or random things and you’re not looking for that connection, sometimes it becomes hard to grow from your mistakes. Because there’s always a pattern of things” – “Dealing with adversity, a big part of it is the story that you tell yourself, and so being able to tell yourself the right story, is just an important part of good mental health” – “the most important thing for anyone pursuing success, by far and away, is to be in a place where they are happy with themselves” – “Gratitude is a very very important component of having a positive attitude” – “I’m not in control. I can’t force my way into my desired outcome. You can do your best, you can make the best decisions out of the inputs that you have, and sometimes you make bad decisions. You just have to be ok with not being in control. In some ways it can be scary but in other ways it’s very freeing” – “There are certain things that are pre-requisites to being successful, that I found in my life, call it on a secular basis. Those are things like having professional pride, understanding that you’re your own brand, that your output is what you’re going to be accountable for, the difference between being output oriented or result oriented. You really need to understand how to move the needle in whatever you are pursuing, but at the same time you should also understand that it’s very hard to see the forest from the trees and you should always question yourself and ask yourself whether you’re able to see it.
