“I’ve never been afraid of hard work in my life, in fact I relish it, if there’s a project to manage or something to do, I’m ready to tackle it, so my only reaction to what “Star” (Ian’s wife) told me was “he** yeah bring it on, let’s do this, whatever I need to do, if there’s something I need to do let’s do it” – “I developed this philosophy that I called “inch-by-inch” – “Every single day you have to want to beat the stroke more than the stroke wants to beat you down” – “If you look at any forest of trees, and you want to get through it, and you tell your brain “Don’t look at the trees”, all that you’re gonna see are the trees. But if you tell your brain “look at the path through the forest”, then you will see the path through the forest. You have to see the way through, and not look at the obstacles” – “Before you can do it you have to visualize you can do it”.
